VIRTUES OF THE HOLY MONTH OF RAMADAAN*

🌙
*In the Name of ALLAAH, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.*

Before we proceed with tips related to preparations for the month of Ramadaan, it is best to narrate some the virtues of Ramadaan. Knowledge of the virtues will develop the understanding of the value and importance of this most blessed month, creating enthusiasm and eagerness, which in turn will result, Insha Allaah, in proper fulfilment of the laws, etiquette and demands of Ramadaan.

ALLAAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA) says: *"Believers! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become pious." [Qur'aan 2:183].*

So the wisdom behind the obligation of fasting is to gain piety of ALLAAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA) alone by doing much of what HE has ordered and avoiding what HE has prohibited.

The Prophet (SALLALLAAHU ALAHYI WA SALAM) said:

• There has come to you Ramadaan, a blessed month which ALLAAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA) has enjoined you to fast, during which the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the rebellious devils are chained up. In it there is a night which is better than a thousand months, and whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived. *[An-Nasaa’i]*

• Whoever spends the nights of Ramadaan in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. *[Bukhari & Muslim]*

• Whoever fasts Ramadaan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. *[Bukhari & Muslim]*

• Whoever prays qiyaam (taraweeh) with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer. *[Abu Dawood].*

The blessed month of Ramadaan is a great opportunity for goodness, blessing, worship and obedience towards ALLAAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA). It is a great month, a noble season, a month in which rewards for good deeds are multiplied and in which committing bad deeds is more serious than at other times. The gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are shut, and the sinners’ repentance to ALLAAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA) is accepted.

We ask ALLAAH to let us reach the blessed month of Ramadaan. Aameen.

Distinction of Jumu'ah

*⭐HADITH AND COMMENTARY⭐*

Abu Hurairah (RADIYALLAAHU ANHU) reported:

The Prophet (SALLALLAAHU ALAYHI WA SALLAM) said while talking about the merits of Friday, "There is a time on Friday at which a Muslim, while he (or she) is performing Salat and is supplicating, will be granted whatever he (or she) is supplicating for.'' And he (SALLALLAAHU ALAYHI WA SALLAM) pointed with his hand to indicate that this period of time is very short.
*[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].*

*COMMENTARY:*

This Hadith mentions another distinction of Jumu'ah, namely a moment in which every prayer that a person then makes is granted with the condition that what one is asking for is good and lawful. It is a very short moment and its time has also not been revealed. For this reason one should remember ALLAAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA) frequently and pray to HIM on Jumu'ah so that one attains that moment when prayers are answered. Prayers can also be answered outside Salat if one happens to be supplicating at the specified moment.

JUMU'AH CHECKLIST REMINDER

 ⭐HADITH AND COMMENTARY⭐

Abu Hurairah (RADIYALLAAHU ANHU) reported:

The Messenger of ALLAAH (SALLALLAAHU ALAHYI WA SALLAM) said, "If anyone performs Wudu' properly, then comes to the Friday prayer, listens to the Khutbah (religious talk) attentively and keeps silent, his (minor) sins between that Friday and the following Friday will be forgiven, with the addition of three more days; but he who touches pebbles has caused an interruption. ''
*[Muslim].*

*COMMENTARY:*

1. "If anyone performs ablution properly'' means does it in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet (SALLALLAAHU ALAYHI WA SALLAM) that is to say, one should not exceed the prescribed limits, nor should one use water extravagantly. One should wash every organ of the body involved in "Wudu'', at the most for three times. One should neither use water in excess of the need nor leave any of the organs unwashed or partly washed in Wudu'. This Hadith also makes it evident that it is more meritorious to perform Wudu' at home.

2. Sins of ten days are pardoned because every virtue has at least ten-times reward. Here sins means minor sins as the major ones are not forgiven without sincere repentance nor are Huquq-ul-'Ibad i.e., (rights of people) forgiven without compensation.

3. One should listen to the Khutbah quietly with full attention. One must avoid toying with anything (such as straws, one's watch, etc.) as this is a useless exercise, which will doubtlessly deprive one of the Friday reward.

*JUMU'AH CHECKLIST REMINDER*

✅ Cut Nails

✅ Have a Ghusl & use Perfume (for men only)

✅ Wear the best clothes

✅ Salaat al-Jumu’ah (Friday prayer go early)

✅ Make du'aa in abundance

✅ Recite Suratul-Kahf

✅ Send durood upon Nabi SALLALLAAHU ALAYHI WA SALLAM in abundance

Sending blessings upon the Prophet (SALLALLAAHU ALAYHI WA SALLAM) is one of the best and noblest acts of worship by means of which one may draw closer to ALLAAH. ALLAAH has enjoined that upon His believing slaves. HE says: *"Indeed, ALLAAH confers blessing upon the Prophet, and HIS angels [ask HIM to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [ALLAAH to confer] blessing upon him and ask [ALLAAH to grant him] peace.[Qur'an 33:56]"*

The Prophet (SALLALLAAHU ALAYHI WA SALLAM) also urged us to do that and explained that it brings a multiple reward and that it is a means of attaining forgiveness of sins and having one’s needs met. He (SALLALLAAHU ALAYHI WA SALLAM) said: *“Whoever sends blessings upon me once, ALLAAH will send blessings upon him tenfold and will erase from him ten misdeeds and raise him ten degrees in status.” [An-Nasaa'i 1297]*

So blessings and peace of ALLAAH be upon him, constantly, until the Day of Judgement.
